Traffic advisory issued for Vice President C P Radhakrishnan’s Odisha visit: Vice President C P Radhakrishnan is scheduled to visit Odisha on July 9. During the visit Vice President will take part in the Convocation ceremony of the Central Research Institute and attend other events, officials said. Ahead of C P Radhakrishnan’s visit the Bhubaneswar-Kataka Police Commissionerate on Wednesday issued a traffic advisory.
As per the advisory, traffic restrictions will remain in place at different locations across Bhubaneswar on Thursday. Vehicular movement will be regulated along routes connecting the airport, Lok Bhavan, Jaydev Vihar, NH-16, Khordha bypass and NISER during the movement of the VIP convoy.
The restrictions will be implemented in phases from 10:25 am to 10:45 am, 12:25 pm to 12:40 pm, 1:40 pm to 2:30 pm, and 3:55 pm to 5:25 pm. During these periods, roads including Airport Square, Hospital Square, AG Square, Lok Bhavan Square, Gopabandhu Square, OUAT Square, Power House Square, 120 Battalion Square, Sastri Nagar Square, Behera Sahi Square, Jaydev Vihar, NH-16, Khordha Bypass service road, Carmel School Square, Kholadwar Square, Padanpur Square and NISER will witness traffic restrictions.
The Commissionerate Police has advised citizens to plan their journeys in advance, keep additional travel time in hand and follow instructions issued by traffic personnel deployed across the city. Traffic restrictions will be enforced on several major routes to facilitate the smooth movement of the VIP convoy and ensure better traffic management. The advisory will not apply to emergency vehicles, including ambulances and fire tenders.
The police have urged commuters to avoid the affected routes during the specified time periods and use alternative roads wherever possible. Additionally, police appealed to residents and commuters to cooperate with the traffic arrangements and follow the guidelines for hassle-free movement across the city.
