Venezuelan leader awards Nobel Peace Prize to Trump
Venezuelan Opposition Leader Presents Nobel Peace Prize Medal to Trump: Venezuelan opposition leader Maria Corina Machado met with US President Trump at the White House on Thursday. It was her first face-to-face meeting with a Venezuelan leader since the ouster of Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro.
After the meeting, Machado said he had presented Trump with his Nobel Peace Prize medal. “I think today is a historic day for us Venezuelans,” he said. Speaking to reporters after the meeting, Machado mentioned presenting Trump with his award, but gave no other details. The White House has not said whether Trump has accepted the medal.
After leaving the White House, Machado told supporters gathered outside in Spanish, “We can trust President Trump.” However, Trump has not yet endorsed Machado as Venezuela’s new leader. Instead, he is working with Venezuela’s acting president, Delcy Rodriguez.
