The 86 kg medal contender Mukul Dahiya has been temporarily suspended by the NADA after his test sample was found to contain the banned substance mephentermine. The 2026 Asian Games are scheduled to be held between September 19 to October 4. Mukul is currently participating in a training camp with the Asian Games Indian wrestling team in Yerevan, Armenia. The Indian team had high expectations for Mukul, who won the silver medal in the 2026 Asian Championships, but it has now become difficult for him to compete in this tournament after his suspension by NADA.

The Wrestling Federation of India had already submitted its final list of wrestlers to the Indian Olympic Association in the first week of June. In such a situation, the possibility of any kind of change in the team decided at the last moment is very less.

Dahiya’s case comes only days after another Asian Games-bound wrestler, Greco-Roman competitor Deepanshu, was provisionally suspended following an out-of-competition test in the 130kg category.
