10 Killed as Bus Catches Fire After Collision With Truck in Karnataka: At least 10 people were killed in a tragic road accident early Thursday morning in Karnataka’s Chitradurga district after a private sleeper bus collided with a truck on National Highway 48 (NH-48).

According to initial reports, the accident occurred around 3 a.m. The sleeper bus was traveling from Bengaluru to Shivamogga, covering a distance of over 300 kilometers. Most of the passengers were asleep at the time of the collision.

Officials said a truck (lorry) coming from the opposite direction reportedly crossed the central divider and rammed into the bus. The impact was severe, causing the sleeper bus to catch fire shortly after the collision.

Emergency services rushed to the spot, and rescue operations were carried out with the help of local authorities and police. Several injured passengers were shifted to nearby hospitals for treatment. The exact number of injured is yet to be confirmed.

Police have registered a case and are investigating the cause of the accident. Traffic on the highway was temporarily disrupted following the incident. Authorities have expressed condolences to the families of the victims and assured support to those affected.
