3 School Buses Seized Over Lack Of Fitness Certificates: Three school buses were seized during a checking drive in the Banki area of Kataka district on Monday. It is alleged that the vehicles were operating without valid permits and fitness certificates.
The enforcement action was carried out by the Cuttack Regional Transport Office (RTO) and the Odisha Motor Vehicle Department (OMVD). During the inspection, a joint team of officials intercepted three buses that were carrying school students. Officials checked the vehicle documents and found that the private school buses allegedly lacked a valid permit or fitness certificate.
The seizure has raised concerns over the operation of school transport vehicles without the required regulatory clearances. Fitness certification by RTOs is an important requirement for ensuring that vehicles used for passenger transportation meet the prescribed safety and roadworthiness standards.
Authorities are expected to take further action based on the findings of the ongoing probe. The drive will be intensified in the coming days, a senior RTO official said.
