Aama bus will drive by women
Our bus steering will be in the hands of women. That is, our buses will be driven by women. For this, they will be trained in Pune. On the 31st, 20 women will travel to Pune for e-bus driving training by the Capital Region Urban Transport (CRUT). Keeping in mind the safe travel of women passengers in the state and the special demand for public transport in the current situation, more emphasis has been given to women drivers.
A review meeting was held on Tuesday under the chairmanship of Housing and Urban Development Minister Krishna Chandra Mohapatra regarding the ‘Aam Bus Service’ under the Capital Region Urban Transport (CRUT). Such a decision was taken in this. It was decided in this meeting that a training institute will be built in the CRUT depot premises soon. Here, emphasis will be placed on many aspects such as practical, behavioral, training, traffic rules and lane driving.
The Minister has ordered to expedite the work regarding the operation of our buses in Baripada, Keonjhar, Angul. Along with this, it was informed in the review meeting that it is generally believed that alcohol is the main cause of accidents. In this regard, it has been made mandatory to check the alcohol level of all the drivers driving our buses. One lakh 97 thousand checks have been done in one year. Out of this, 19 people were found to be driving our buses after drinking alcohol in one year.
They were arrested by the police and their driving licenses were suspended for 3 months and the information was given to the regional transport officer. Similarly, CRUT has provided a compensation to the families of the accident victims. For this, an insurance amount of more than Rs 4 crore has been given to the family of the deceased. CRUT Managing Director Sanjay Biswal, General Manager Sahadeva Samadhiya, and Officer on Special Duty Pallavi Behera were prominently present in the meeting.
