Bollywood Comedian Rajpal Yadav’s Fate to Be Decided Today in Cheque Bounce Case
Rajpal Yadav Appears in Court Today as Bail Plea in Loan Case Is Heard: Bollywood actor and comedian Rajpal Yadav is currently lodged in Tihar Jail following a Delhi High Court order in connection with a ₹9 crore cheque bounce and loan default case. As the actor awaits his bail hearing, several prominent members of the film industry have stepped forward to support him financially and morally during this challenging time.
Among those who have extended help are Salman Khan, Ajay Devgn, filmmaker David Dhawan and his son Varun Dhawan. Actor Sonu Sood, singer Mika Singh, Jam Music producer Indrajit Singh, and Tej Pratap Yadav have also come forward in support of the comedian.
Goldie Jain, who has managed Rajpal Yadav for the past 25 years, confirmed that many leading actors, directors, and producers have offered assistance. “Actors like Sonu Sood, Salman Khan, and Ajay Devgn have come forward to provide financial help. They are all well-wishers of Rajpal Bhai,” he said. He added that Rajpal’s bail hearing is scheduled for Thursday and, if everything goes well, a press conference may follow.
Singer Mika Singh announced a donation of ₹11 lakh, saying, “Rajpal ji, I stand with you. You’ve made everyone laugh, and now it’s our turn. I appeal to the film industry to come together and help. We are one family.”
FWICE Appeals for Industry Support
The Federation of Western India Cine Employees (FWICE) has also appealed to producers, directors, actors, technicians, associations, and well-wishers to support Rajpal Yadav in clearing his dues and securing his release. According to ANI, contributions can be made directly to the actor or through the federation.
Rajpal Yadav surrendered at Tihar Jail on February 5 after the Delhi High Court rejected his plea seeking an additional week to arrange funds in the cheque bounce case. On February 4, the court dismissed his final appeal and directed him to surrender without delay.
Family Expresses Gratitude
Speaking to PTI, Rajpal’s wife Radha expressed gratitude for the support pouring in from the industry. “Everyone is standing with him. The film industry has been very supportive. We are very grateful to everyone who is coming forward to help,” she said.
Background of the Case
The case dates back to 2010, when Rajpal Yadav borrowed ₹5 crore from Murli Projects Private Limited to produce the film Aata Pata Lapata. The film failed at the box office, leaving him unable to repay the loan. Seven cheques issued by him reportedly bounced, prompting the company to initiate legal proceedings.
In 2018, a court sentenced him to six months in prison. Though he was later released on bail, the legal battle continued. Over the years, with accumulated interest, the outstanding amount reportedly rose to ₹9 crore. Recently, the Delhi High Court declined to grant him further relief, resulting in his current imprisonment.
As the bail hearing approaches, the film fraternity continues to rally behind the actor known for bringing laughter to millions through his memorable performances.
