ATM Withdrawals to Get Costlier After Free Limit Exhausted
ATM Rules Changing from April 1: Charges and Limits Revised: Starting April 1, 2026, several major banks including HDFC Bank and Punjab National Bank will implement new ATM withdrawal rules, affecting millions of customers across India.
Under the new system, HDFC Bank has linked UPI-based ATM withdrawals to a free transaction limit. Customers will get 3 free transactions in metro cities and 5 in non-metro cities. Beyond this, a fee of ₹23 plus tax will be charged per transaction.
Meanwhile, Punjab National Bank has reduced daily withdrawal limits. The limit for regular debit cards has been cut from ₹1 lakh to ₹50,000, while premium card limits have been reduced from ₹1.5 lakh to ₹75,000.
Customers of Bandhan Bank will also see changes, with only 5 free transactions allowed at their own bank ATMs and 3 at other bank ATMs per month. Additional transactions will incur a charge of ₹23 each.
Customers are advised to stay aware of these changes to avoid extra charges and manage their cash withdrawals efficiently.
