Jhalmuri Seller Who Met PM Modi Gets Threat Calls
Bengal Man Who Served Jhalmuri To PM Modi Reports Threats: Vikram Sao, a roadside jhalmuri seller from Jhargram, has alleged that he is receiving death threats from unknown callers after Narendra Modi visited his stall during the Lok Sabha election campaign. Modi had stopped at Sao’s shop on April 19 and ate jhalmuri, a popular puffed rice snack from Bengal.
According to Sao, the threats have been coming through phone calls, WhatsApp messages, and video calls. He claimed that some callers identified themselves as being from Pakistan and Bangladesh. The vendor also alleged that a few callers showed weapons during video calls and threatened to kill him and his family.
After the Prime Minister’s visit, Sao’s small stall drew significant public attention, with videos and photos of the interaction widely shared on social media. The sudden publicity reportedly made him locally famous, but Sao says it also brought fear and anxiety to his family because of the repeated threatening messages.
Following his complaint, police officials started an investigation into the threatening calls and messages. Security personnel have also been deployed for Sao and his family as a precautionary measure while authorities work to trace the origin of the calls and identify those responsible.
