Modi said that a Free Trade Agreement (FTA) has been signed between India and New Zealand in a record 9 months this year. New Zealand will invest ₹1.72 lakh crore ($20 billion) in India over the next 15 years.

Modi- Luxon signed multiple agreements to strengthen bilateral ties: Prime Minister Narendra Modi held a bilateral meeting with his counterpart Christopher Luxon in Aukland, New Zealand on Saturday. The two sides signed 10 agreements and set a target of doubling bilateral trade to around ₹35,000 crore by 2030.

The two countries decided to elevate their bilateral relationship the status of ‘Strategic Partnership’. Modi said that a Free Trade Agreement (FTA) has been signed between India and New Zealand in a record 9 months this year. New Zealand will invest ₹1.72 lakh crore ($20 billion) in India over the next 15 years. It will also help in the goal of ‘Developed India 2047’. Modi has arrived in New Zealand on the last leg of his three-nation tour from July 6 to 11. This is the first visit of an Indian PM to New Zealand after 40 years. Earlier in 1986, Rajiv Gandhi went to New Zealand.

India and New Zealand have also approved the ‘India-New Zealand Strategic Partnership: Roadmap 2030’. Under this, in the next four years, cooperation will be increased in many areas such as trade, agriculture, security, innovation, and people-to-people contacts. The agreement signed between the two countries focuses on key sectors like trade, defence, education, sports, and culture.
