A class 8 student found hanging in Nabarangpur: A 14-year-old student was found hanging from a tree in Nabarangpur district. The reason behind the death remains unclear but suspected that she may have died by suicide.

The incident took place at an Ashram school under Bhamini Gram Panchayat in Umerkote block of Nabarangpur late Saturday night. The victim was a 14-year-old girl student of class-VIII. The deceased was staying in the school’s hostel and had returned to the institution from her home on June 25.

According to preliminary information, hostel students have assembled for dinner on Saturday night when 3 girls were found absent. School authorities later traced two of them, but one student remained missing. A search operation was launched within the campus, during which the girl was found hanging from a tree near the hostel. The school headmaster immediately informed Umerkote police, who reached the spot and initiated an investigation.

After being informed about the incident, victim’s father has lodged a complaint at Umerkote Police Station, requesting a thorough investigation into the matter. Police recovered the body and sent it to the hospital for post-mortem. A case of unnatural death has been registered, and investigators are trying to ascertain whether it was a case of suicide or if any other circumstances led to the incident.
