Agni-4 Ballistic Missile Successfully Test-Fired from Chandipur: India on Thursday successfully test-fired its Medium Range Ballistic Missile Agni-4 from the Integrated Test Range in Chandipur in Baleshwar district.
The Ministry of Defence said the launch validated all operational and technical parameters and was conducted under the aegis of the Strategic Forces Command. Agni-4 is a two-stage, surface-to-surface missile powered by a solid-fuel rocket motor. It has a strike range of up to 4,000 kilometres and is capable of carrying nuclear warheads.
Earlier, India had also carried out successful trials of the Agni-Prime and Agni-3 missiles. The Ministry added that the successful launch marks another milestone in strengthening the country’s strategic deterrence capabilities.
Defence Minister Rajnath Singh congratulated the DRDO and the SFC on the successful test-firing of the Agni-4 missile. ‘I congratulate SFC and DRDO for this textbook mission launch which reaffirmed India’s commitment to defend the nation with state-of-the-art technologies,’ he said on social media.
