Pune’s iconic Burger King outlet on East Street in the Camp area has been sealed after FDA found serious hygiene deficiencies and violations of food safety regulations during an inspection.
Burger King Food License Suspended: Maharashtra Food and Drug Administration(FDA) sealed a Burger King outlet in Pune. The action was taken as part of the statewide ‘Safe Food, Safe Drug, Safe Maharashtra’ campaign.
Pune’s iconic Burger King outlet on East Street in the Camp area has been sealed after FDA found serious hygiene deficiencies and violations of food safety regulations during an inspection. The restaurant has been operating in the area since 1992 and is among Pune’s oldest Burger King outlets, making it a familiar food destination for generations of residents. The action came as part of a wider food safety drive across Maharashtra under the ‘Safe Food, Safe Drug, Safe Maharashtra’ campaign launched on the directions of Food Safety Commissioner Tukaram Mundhe.
During the special inspection drive on August 13, FDA officials inspected 86 establishments across Maharashtra, including food businesses and online delivery platforms such as Zepto, Blinkit and Instamart. Fourteen food business licences were also suspended with immediate effect while 60 improvement notices were issued
Consumers who face food quality issues can raise a complaint through the consumer helpline number 1915. They can also file a complaint through FSSAI’s Food Safety Connect app provided that they must have supporting evidence like restaurant bill, video photo of bad food. All these things are necessary at the time of filing a complaint.
