A prisoner flees during court hearing: An accused escaped from police custody during court hearing in Uttar Pradesh’s Banda district. The police team is trying to track the location of the accused.
According to sources, the police were escorting an accused(Sanjay), booked under the NDPS Act, for a court hearing on August 14, 2026. Meanwhile, Sanjay told the accompanying police constable that he needed to relieve(pee) himself. During the time, Sanjay seized the opportunity and fled. After a long time, when Sanjay did not return, the police became suspicious. Following the incident, there was a stir in the Banda police department. A police team also tried to search the accused within and nearby areas of the court premises. But the police were clueless. Acting on the instructions of SP Palash Bansal 4 police teams were deployed to track down the location of the accused through the CCTV footage. Further police investigations are underway.
The incident has raised concern about security protocols during prisoner transfers.
