Police Services now available on ‘Ama Sathi’ WhatsApp bot: Odisha police has launched ‘Ama Sathi’ unified  WhatsApp bot to access routine administrative services from home. The new digital initiative aims to make police administration fast, transparent and hassle-free for the general public.

Odisha DGP Vinaytosh Mishra inaugurated the service at the DGP camp office here on Friday. The ‘Ama Sathi’ unified WhatsApp bot has been developed in collaboration with the Odisha government’s Centre for Modernizing Government Initiative (CMGI), State Crime Records Bureau (SCRB), Odisha Police and Meta India (WhatsApp). The technical integration was coordinated by SCRB. Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi had launched the ‘Ama Saathi’ WhatsApp bot on December 25, 2025, on the occasion of Good Governance Day, with the objective of bringing government services closer to citizens.

The 14 police services now available through the platform include character certificate, senior citizen registration, employee verification, lost property/document reporting, loudspeaker permission NOC, tenant/PG verification, lost property registration, missing person information and registration, complaint registration, employee/domestic helper verification, permission for events/processions, permission for agitation/strike, FIR copy issuance, and final form copy issuance in road accident/stolen vehicle/theft cases.

To access the services, citizens need to save the ‘Ama Saathi’ WhatsApp number 9437292000 and send ‘Hi’. After selecting a language and the required service, users can submit the necessary information and documents through WhatsApp. Once submitted, the application is forwarded to the concerned police office or authority and a reference/application number is generated. Citizens can use the number to track the status of their application. For services offering digital document delivery, approved documents can also be received through WhatsApp.

The integration is expected to strengthen digital and citizen-centric policing by bringing police services to citizens’ fingertips through a 24×7 digital assistance platform. Director (SCRB) Abinash Kumar, Additional DGP (Law & Order) Sanjay Kumar, Police Commissioner S Debadatta Singh, IG STF Himanshu Lal, IG (Intelligence) Satyabrata Bhoi, IG (Crime Branch) Sarthak Sarangi, CMGI Executive Director Surendra Kumar Meena, SP (Computer) Amulya Dhar and other senior officials were present in the inaugural ceremony.
