Amitendra Nath Sinha was honoured with a President’s Medal at a CRPF parade in Guwahati for his service record and leadership
Odisha Cadre IPS Officer Amitendra Nath Sinha Appointed BSF IG: The Central government has appointed senior Odisha cadre IPS officer Amitendra Nath Sinha as Inspector General in the Border Security Force (BSF). A 2002-batch officer, Sinha currently serves as Inspector General in the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF).
As per a notification issued on September 16 from the Union Ministry of Home Affairs, Amitendra Nath Sinha will hold the new assignment from the date he takes charge until July 10, 2028, or until further government orders. Sinha is appointed to pay level 14.
Sinha has been on a five-year central deputation since July 11, 2023. His transfer to the BSF has been effected on a lateral shift basis and will form part of the same combined central tenure. Prior to his central posting, the officer held several key positions in the Odisha Police, including that of Inspector General of the CID-Crime Branch.
In February 2026, he was honoured with a President’s Medal at a CRPF parade in Guwahati for his service record and leadership. Earlier, he had also received the Police Antrik Suraksha Seva Padak in 2013.
