: The 16th Tata Steel Friendship Cup Football Tournament – 2026, held today at the Kalinga Stadium in Bhubaneswar. The ‘Media 11’ team emerged as champions, while the ‘Officers 11’ team finished as runners-up.
Addressing the event Chief Minister Shri Mohan Charan Majhi said, ‘ Sports are an integral part of life. They foster unity, brotherhood, and harmony in society.’ On this occasion, the Chief Minister felicitated the seven male and three female hockey players from Odisha who were part of the Indian men’s and women’s teams that recently won the Junior Asia Cup Hockey tournament held in China. Each player was awarded a cash prize of ₹1.25 lakh. Appreciating the enthusiastic participation of everyone in the friendly competition, the Chief Minister remarked that sportsmanship is more important than winning or losing on the field. A sporting spirit and a sense of brotherhood form the foundation of a healthy society. The Chief Minister commended Tata Steel for its commitment to social responsibility and thanked the company for organizing such friendly tournaments annually.

It is worth noting that a friendly football match was organized today at Kalinga Stadium as part of the Tata Steel Friendship Cup, featuring teams comprising public representatives, administrative officials, media personnel, and Tata Steel representatives.
Deputy Chief Minister Shri Kanak Vardhan Singh Deo, Minister of Panchayati Raj and Drinking Water Shri Rabi Narayan Naik, and Minister of Health and Family Welfare Dr. Mukesh Mahaling, Minister of Industries, Skill Development and Technical Education Shri Sampad Chandra Swain, Minister of Higher Education, Sports and Youth Services Shri Suryabanshi Suraj, Government Chief Whip Shri Saroj Kumar Pradhan, Tata Steel Vice President (Corporate Services) Shri D.B. Sundara Ramam as well as other MLAs and media representatives were present on this occasion.
