Asian Games 2026: Boxer Ankush secures medal in semi- finals: Indian athletes are in action on the eighth day of the Asian Games 2026. On Sunday medal events will be held in athletics, squash, weightlifting, shooting and Kurash. India have a chance to increase medal count in these sports.
India’s women’s compound team of Chikita Tanipartha, Preetika Pradeep and Jyoti Surekha Vennam has created history in the Asian Games. In the pre-quarterfinal match, the Indian trio defeated Mongolia 238-223 and made it to the quarterfinals. Along with this, Manu Bhakar, Isha and Rahi will be in action in the 25m pistol qualification and the race walk medal event is underway. Along with this, star badminton player PV Sindhu will compete in the quarter-finals, while India’s hopes for medals in many other sports will also be there.

Abhay Singh and Anahat Singh could win two gold medals in squash today. India advanced to the semi-finals of the compound mixed team archery event. Sahil Jadhav and Chikitha Taniparthi defeated the Kazakhstani pair 159-154.
Santosh Kumar Tamilarasan advanced to the final of the men’s 400m hurdles. Santosh finished second in his heat in 49.61 seconds.
Boxer Ankush Panghal advanced to the semifinals of the men’s 80 kg category, defeating Tajikistan’s Nekruz Salimov 5-0 in the quarterfinals.
India has won total 30 medals (4 gold, 12 silver and 14 bronze) and is currently ranked at 10th in the medal tally. China is currently ranked 1 with 107 gold, 41 silver and 28 bronze medals taking its total medal count to 176.
