Railways announced special trains for Diwali and Chhath: Indian Railways has decided to run dozens of special trains during Diwali and Chhath. These trains will run between major cities of Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Delhi, Punjab, Chandigarh and Maharashtra. In view of the festive demand, railways will also run special trains between New Delhi-Kanpur Central, Anand Vihar-Muzaffarpur and Hazrat Nizamuddin-Dadar.
Railways has scheduled a total of 36 trains between October 1 and November 30. The booking of all these special trains is going to start soon. The Railways has arranged direct trains for devotees going to Ayodhya and Varanasi and the passengers returning home. Anand Vihar-Ayodhya Cantt (Train No. 04214 / 04213) will depart from Anand Vihar at 9:00 AM and reach Ayodhya Cantt at 10:00 PM on the same day. In return, it will leave Ayodhya Cantt at 6:20 PM and reach Anand Vihar at 6:10 AM the next day.
Delhi-Varanasi Special (Train No. 04210 / 04209) will run from October 2 to November 28. This train will leave Varanasi at 10:15 pm and reach Delhi at 1:45 pm the next day. In return, it will depart from Delhi at 6:50 pm and reach Varanasi at 9:50 am. This train will run three days a week. It will have AC 2-tier, AC 3-tier, sleeper and general coaches.

Special trains will also run for Patna and Purvanchal
During Diwali and Chhath, the most pressure is on routes going to Bihar. Keeping this in mind, Northern Railway has decided to run many trains. Chandigarh-Patna Special (Train No. 04512 / 04511): Running with 18 trains, this train will reach Patna via Ambala Cantt, Saharanpur, Roorkee, Moradabad, Bareilly, Shahjahanpur, Varanasi, Pandit Deen Dayal Upadhyay (DDU), Buxar, Ara and Danapur.
Ferozepur Cantt-Patna Special (Train No. 04616 / 04615): This 16-way train will reach Patna via Moga, Ludhiana, Ambala, Moradabad, Bareilly, Varanasi and Buxar, which will provide direct confirmed seats to passengers from Purvanchal living in Punjab.
