CSK Fans Worried That MS Dhoni Might Not Be Seen In The Match : Chennai fans got a big shock from the start of the IPL. He would not have been seen in the yellow jersey. Before the excitement of IPL 2026 begins, there is a sad news for Chennai Super Kings fans. Former team captain and legendary player MS Dhoni may miss the first few matches of the tournament due to injury. According to a statement issued by CSK, Dhoni is currently going through a ‘calf strain’ problem, due to which he will not be able to take the field for the first two weeks.
Dhoni will take some time to fully recover from the muscle injury. He is currently undergoing rehabilitation. As per the CSK schedule, the team will play against Rajasthan Royals on March 30, Punjab Kings on April 3, RCB on April 5 and Delhi Capitals on April 11. Dhoni’s absence from these four important matches is almost certain. It is expected that he will return to the team again in the match against Kolkata Knight Riders on April 14.
Dhoni is no longer the captain, but his presence on the field is like a guide for the team. As an uncapped player, he is associated with the team, but he has no choice but to stay behind the wickets, strategize and bat as a finisher in the last overs. He also plays a big role in guiding the younger players.
Chennai has won the title 5 times under Dhoni’s leadership. Chennai is also the most successful team in IPL these days. So all this has been possible only because of Dhoni. So his absence can be a big loss for the team.
The big question now is who will take over the wicketkeeping duties in Dhoni’s absence. The team has three options in Sanju Samson, Urvil Patel and Karthik Sharma. It is speculated that along with Sanju Samson, Urvil Patel may also find a place in the playing eleven. These two players have been seen keeping wickets during practice.
Despite this injury problem, the team has many talented players who are capable of winning matches. However, fans are still eager to see their beloved ‘Thala’ on the field again in the yellow jersey. CSK also sent a message to Dhoni – “Get well soon, Thala!”
