Hasan Mahmud becomes first Bangladeshi pacer to take a test hat-trick: Bangladesh fast bowler Hasan Mahmood made history. He became the first pacer of the country to take a hat-trick in a test cricket against Afghanistan in Abu Dhabi on Sunday.
The 26-year-old achieved the feat on day-3 of the one-off test against Afghanistan in Abu Dhabi. Hasan is the third bowler of Bangladesh to take a hat-trick in Test cricket. Before him, Alok Kapali achieved this feat against Pakistan in Peshawar in 2003 and Sohag Ghazi against New Zealand in Chittagong in 2013. However, unlike these two, Hasan is the first fast bowler from Bangladesh to take three wickets in three consecutive balls in a Test match.
Hasan completed his hat-trick by taking the wickets of first Ismat Alam, then Qais Ahmed and then Zia-ur-Rehman on the third, fourth and fifth balls of the 83rd over of Afghanistan’s innings. Hasan first bowled Ismat Alam on a sharp ball. Soon after this, Qais Ahmed was caught behind the wicket by Liton Das. After this, Hasan took his third consecutive wicket through a successful DRS against Zia-ur-Rehman.

In the match, Bangladesh team decided to bat first after winning the toss. The Bangladeshi team scored 346 runs with the half-centuries of Shadman Islam (67), Tanjeed Hasan (83) and Liton Das (53).
In response, the Afghanistan team was limited to 240 runs despite captain Rahmat Shah’s century. Rahmat Shah remained unbeaten on 105 runs off 216 balls. Apart from Rahmat Shah, Abdul Malik also contributed 62 runs for the team. In this way, Bangladesh gained a lead of 106 runs in the first innings with their powerful bowling.
