A quick stop to enjoy some favourite street food can hardly be expected to end in a chase with thieves. But that is exactly what happened to a man in Jaipur. A CCTV video of the incident has now drawn attention online, capturing an unusual moment during a daylight robbery.
The incident reportedly took place around 4 pm on October 26, within the jurisdiction of Jaipur’s Nahargarh police station. The victim, identified as Champalal, was working as a collection agent and had stopped to eat kachoris.
Thieves Make Their Move In Broad Daylight
According to reports, Champalal had parked his scooter with a bag containing Rs 20 lakh placed on its footboard. Two men wearing helmets soon arrived on another scooter and pulled up alongside his vehicle.
The CCTV footage shows the pillion rider swiftly reaching for the bag and taking it away. Before Champalal could react, the suspects accelerated and fled from the spot.
Man Joins The Chase With A Plate Of Kachoris
What followed has become the most striking part of the footage. Having realised that his money had been stolen, Champalal immediately started running after the fleeing duo. Interestingly, he did not even put down his plate of kachoris.
Rather than getting back on his scooter, he appeared determined to catch the suspects on foot. A few people nearby also joined the pursuit. However, despite their efforts, the two men managed to escape with the cash.
Police Examine CCTV Footage
Following the robbery, Champalal approached the Nahargarh police station and filed a complaint. Police registered a case and are examining CCTV recordings from nearby locations to identify the accused and establish their escape route. The suspects remain at large, as the investigation continues.
CCTV Video Triggers Debate On Social Media
The footage has sparked considerable discussion online. While some users suspect that the thieves may have been following Champalal before targeting him, others have questioned why such a large amount of cash was left unattended on a scooter.
Beyond the unusual sight of a man chasing thieves with food in his hand, the incident highlights how quickly an ordinary roadside stop can turn into a major security concern.
