Kannada Actress Arrested At Airport For Smuggling Gold Coins: Kannada-Tamil film actress Ranya Rao has been arrested by the Bengaluru Revenue Intelligence Directorate in connection with a gold smuggling case from Dubai. The actress was caught with 14.8 kg of gold worth Rs 12.56 crore at the Kempegowda International Airport in Bengaluru.
The biggest surprise is that Ranya is a famous actress, and her father is an IPS officer. She was arrested by the Director of Revenue Intelligence. The information says that Ranya has been remanded to judicial custody for 14 days. In the meantime, gold and cash of Rs 4 crore were seized from her Bengaluru residence.

However, the DRI officer had received information that Ranya was involved in gold smuggling for a long time. In the last 15 days, she had traveled to Dubai four times. This had increased suspicion on her. The DRI team had been keeping an eye on Ranya. Ranya had always escaped the inspection by introducing herself as her father. But this time, the DRI received information that actress Ranya was returning to Bengaluru from Dubai with gold. The DRI officer approached her at the airport. She resisted during the inspection.
She had hidden the gold in her dress. During the search, about 15 kg of gold was seized. According to DRI officials, the value of the seized gold will be more than Rs 10 crore. After Ranya was arrested, she is being questioned at the DRI headquarters. Ranya Rao is a well-known actress in Karnataka. She acted in the movie Manikya. Along with this, she has also acted in many films.
