Minor held for sexual assault and murder of 9-year-old boy: A 17- year- old student was allegedly murdered by another minor after he rejected sexual advances. The accused has been sent to a juvenile observation home.
This shocking incident has come to the fore from Puddulotai district, Tamil Nadu. Police officials said a class 4 student(victim), aged 9 years(son of an agricultural daily laborer) went missing after leaving to play with his friends around 6:30 pm on June 27. Following an intense search by the investigating team, his body was discovered late at night near a pond just 100 meters away from his home. Visible injury marks on his face and neck were found with partial clothing on his body. According to the report, the breakthrough came on the morning of June 28. Children who had been playing with the victim revealed to investigators that they saw the 17-year-old suspect, a resident, leading the victim away shortly before he disappeared. Acting on the lead, police detained the accused. After interrogation, the accused confessed that he tried to approach another minor(9- year-old boy) for sexual advances. The child resisted and tried to escape. Fearing exposure, he strangled him with a towel and murdered him.
Police has registered a case against accused under relevant sections regarding murder and POCSO Act. The accused has been sent to a juvenile observation home. Further investigations in this matter is underway.
