IMD predicts low pressure likely by July 3: A low-pressure area is likely to form over the northwest Bay of Bengal and adjoining regions by July 3. Active rainfall may continue across various districts in Odisha, predicted the India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Tuesday.
According to the MeT department, an active cyclonic circulation currently prevailing over the south Bangladesh coast adjoining the north Bay of Bengal is expected to intensify into a low-pressure area over the next few days. The evolving weather system is likely to strengthen the southwest monsoon, keeping conditions favourable for sustained rainfall over eastern India. IMD continues to monitor the evolving system closely. The 16 districts that are placed under the orange warning are Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Jagatsinghpur, Cuttack, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Nabarangpur, Rayagada, Koraput, Malkangiri, Gajapati and Ganjam.
