Weather Update– A low-pressure area has formed in the Bay of Bengal. This low-pressure area has been formed under the influence of an active cyclonic storm. Under its influence, it will move northwestwards till the 8th. It will move slightly northwards from the west-central Bay of Bengal. It is likely to move slightly northwards for the next 48 hours, said the Regional Meteorological Centre in Bhubaneswar.
Due to its influence, there is a possibility of rain in Odisha. Light to moderate rain is likely to occur in coastal Odisha from the 8th to the 10th. This is likely to provide temporary relief from the heat. According to the weather department’s forecast, on April 8, Sundergarh, Keonjhar, Angul, Deogarh, Mayurbhanj, Jajpur, Bhadrak, Balasore, Ganjam, Gajapati, Kandhamal, Rayagada and Koraput districts are likely to receive rainfall and thunderstorms.

The Meteorological Department has also predicted that there is a possibility of wind gusts of 30 to 40 kmph. The Meteorological Department has issued information regarding the possibility of rain and thunderstorms at various places in coastal Odisha and South Odisha on the 9th and 10th.
On the other hand, the temperature in the state is likely to increase by 2 to 3 degrees Celsius in the next 24 hours. On Sunday, seven places recorded temperatures of 40 degrees or more, while Boudh recorded the highest temperature of 42.0 degrees Celsius. Similarly, Angul, Jharsuguda and Titilagarh recorded 41.0 degrees; Hirakud, 40.1; Sonepur, 40.8; and Paralakhemundi, 40.0 degrees. However, the Meteorological Department has predicted that low-pressure-related rains may bring relief to the people of the state.
