The helicopter service will operate between the Baripada Police Line Helipad and Biju Patnaik International Airport in Bhubaneswar. Initially, the service is expected to run four to five flights per month, depending on demand and operational feasibility.

Officials believe the new air link will significantly boost tourism in Mayurbhanj, especially to the scenic Shimlipal region. Special arrangements are being planned to transport tourists from Bhubaneswar directly to Baripada, with accommodation facilities organized at Shimlipal Padadesh Lulung, a popular gateway to the famed Simlipal National Park.

The introduction of this air taxi service is expected to reduce travel time drastically and provide better access for business travelers and emergency medical situations. Local stakeholders see it as a milestone that will strengthen Mayurbhanj’s position on Odisha’s tourism and development map.

If the initial phase proves successful, authorities may consider increasing the frequency of flights in the future.
