Amarinder Singh Raja quits as Punjab Congress Chief: Punjab Congress Chief Amarinder Singh Raja Warring has resigned from his post. He has submitted his resignation to the high command. The party is likely to announce his successor within the next 24 to 48 hours. The development comes just amid a long-standing feud between Warring and former chief minister Charanjit Singh Channi over the party’s leadership in the state ahead of the assembly elections early next year.
Former minister Vijay Inder Singla is the frontrunner for the post. While Jalandhar Cantonment MLA and former hockey captain Pargat Singh, and Gurdaspur MP Sukhjinder Singh Randhawa were also in the race to replace Amarinder Singh Raja.

Amarinder Singh Raja Warring became the Ludhiana MP in 2024. He had taken charge of the Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee in April 2022, just after a deeply fractious Punjab Congress faced a massive drubbing from the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP).
It should be noted that for the past few months, there has been ongoing strife within the Punjab Congress.
