Himanta Biswa Sarma Promises Free LPG Cylinders Ahead of Assam Polls
Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma Announces 2 Free LPG Cylinders if Re-Elected: As election fervour builds in Assam, Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma has unveiled a major welfare promise aimed at attracting voters across the state. Speaking at a campaign rally, he announced that his government would provide two LPG cylinders free of cost annually if re-elected.
The Chief Minister outlined that the free cylinders would be distributed during key festive occasions to maximize relief for households. One will be given before Bihu, while the second will be provided ahead of Durga Puja, helping families manage increased expenses during celebrations.
Sarma said the initiative is designed to support women and economically weaker sections, who are often most affected by rising cooking fuel costs. He assured that the government would fully cover the cost of the cylinders, ensuring that beneficiaries do not have to pay anything out of pocket.
Adding a personal touch, Sarma reiterated his popular “Mama” image, stating that the financial burden would be taken care of by him, reinforcing his connection with the public.
The announcement comes at a crucial time, as political parties intensify their campaigns and introduce welfare schemes to gain voter trust. Analysts suggest that this promise could resonate strongly with rural voters and low-income families, making it a key factor in the upcoming electoral contest.
