Bank holidays in October, check RBI city-wise list: Banks across India will remain closed for 16 days. The RBI banking calendar includes festivals and other regional observances.
Banks across country are also closed on Sundays and 2nd and 4th Saturday of every month. Therefore customer should check holiday calendar applicable to their state before visiting a branch. While physical branches may be closed, online banking services will still be operational. This will make it easier for customers to manage their finances during the festive period.
RBI holiday calendar for October 2026. Check city-wise list:
1. October 2 (Friday): Mahatma Gandhi Jayanti (National Holiday)
2. October 4 (Sunday): Weekly Holiday
3. October 10 (Saturday): Mahalaya Amavasya and Second Saturday. Banks will be closed in Bengaluru and Kolkata.
4. October 11 (Sunday): Weekly Holiday
5. August 17 (Saturday): Maha Saptami. Banks will remain closed in Agartala
6. October 18 (Sunday): Weekly Holiday
7. August 19 (Monday): Maha Ashtami and Durga Puja
8. October 20 (Tuesday): Maha Navami/ Durga Puja (Dasain)/ Ayudhapooja. Branches will remain closed at multiple centres across India.
9. October 21 (Wednesday): Vijaya Dashami (Dussehra) Branches will be closed in Agartala, Bengaluru, Gangtok, Guwahati, Kochi, Kolkata, and Thiruvananthapuram.
10. October 22 and 23: Banks closed in Gangtok
11. October 24 (Saturday): Fourth Saturday of the month
12. October 25 (Sunday): Weekly Holiday
13. October 26 (Monday): Maharishi Valmiki Jayanti, Lakshmi Pujan, Accession Day. Branches will be closed in Agartala, Chandigarh, Jammu, Shimla, and Srinagar.
14. October 29 (Thursday): Karwa Chauth. Banks in Shimla will remain closed.
15. October 31 (Saturday): Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel’s birth anniversary. Banks in Ahmedabad will remain closed.
