Boat capsized near Vietnam, 15 Indian tourists died: At least 15 Indian tourists have died after a speedboat capsized near Phu Quoc Island in southern Vietnam on Saturday. A search and rescue operation was carried out on a war footing by the local administration.
According to sources, a speedboat was carrying 32 Indian tourists and 4 crew members when it overturned about 400 metres from shore. The boat was travelling from Hon May Rut Island to An Thoi Port near Phu Quoc. According to local media and the border guard station, in the accident 21 people were safely rescued, while15 tourists (13 men, 2 women) died. All the surviving injured have been immediately admitted to nearby medical centers for treatment.
According to local authorities, the area was experiencing rough sea conditions. The Indian Embassy in Vietnam confirmed the incident in an ‘X’ post, describing it as a tragic incident.
