Chamoli Tunnel Mishap: 7 died, 14 injured: At least seven died, and 14 were injured after a landslide trapped workers in Uttarakhand’s Chamoli tunnel mishap on Friday. Workers were trapped after a sudden inflow of mud and debris in an under-construction tunnel due to heavy rainfall.

According to sources, the incident occurred around 7pm in the Pipalkoti area of Chamoli district on Thursday. Around 22 workers were present inside the under-construction tunnel of the Tehri Hydro Development Corporation Limited(THDC). The tunnel was filled with debris and water up to 1.50 km from the entrance due to heavy rainfall. Following the incident, the rescue team reached the site and evacuated the injured persons to the District Hospital for necessary medical attention. Most injured workers are from Jharkhand, Bihar, Chattisgarh, Punjab, and Himachal Pradesh. The deceased have been identified as Pradeep Singh Pawar, Mukesh, Durlabh Singh, Vijay, Jitendra Kumar, Lokeshwar, and Bhuneshwar.

As per official records, one worker is still missing. Rescue operations by NDRF and SDRF teams are underway. As per official records, one worker is still missing.
