One man experienced this firsthand after losing his wireless earbud in a patch of white gravel. However, an unexpected use of ChatGPT helped him retrieve it without spending hours searching.
A Failed Search Leads To An Unusual Idea
The man had accidentally dropped one of his Bose earbuds from his hoodie. Despite looking around for approximately 10 minutes, he could not locate the tiny device.
He initially had no way of tracking it through sound either. The user explained that his Bose earbuds would not fully activate or establish a connection until they sensed that they were inside an ear. This left him with few options.
Rather than continuing the unsuccessful search, he decided to put ChatGPT’s image analysis capabilities to the test. He clicked a photograph of the gravel-covered spot and uploaded it to the AI chatbot.
AI Spots What He Couldn’t Find
Explaining what prompted him to seek artificial intelligence’s assistance, the Reddit user wrote, “I use ChatGPT for A LOT of stuff, and it suddenly dawned on me to ask it for help instead of pointlessly scanning the area myself,”
His decision paid off. ChatGPT examined the uploaded image and pointed out where the missing earbud was hiding. The man was able to retrieve it in less than five minutes after uploading the photograph.
Expressing how useful the experience turned out to be, he further wrote, “I genuinely don’t think I ever would’ve found it without ChatGPT.”
