Fake call centre busted selling weight loss products, 3 women arrested: Gurugram police busted a fake call centre for allegedly duping people on the pretext of selling weight loss medicines. Police arrested 3 women in this connection on Sunday.
The accused have been identified as Mandeep, a resident of Delhi, currently staying in Chakkarpur, Gurgaon. Neha, a resident of Delhi and Varsha, a resident of Mainpuri UP, currently staying in Sushant Lok, Gurgaon.
According to cybercrime police, the accused were operating through social media pages under the name of ‘Curest Science and Wellness Pvt. Ltd. They were advertising herbal medicines claiming to help in weight loss. After people showed interest through advertisements, fake call centre executives(accused) contacted them and convinced them to buy the products. The accused allegedly assured customers that these medicines would facilitate weight loss and promised a 100% refund if the products did not work. However, when customers sought refunds, their calls and messages were blocked.
The police has registered a case under relevant sections at cybercrime police station. Further investigations are underway to identify other people involved in the fraud.
