First Swine Flu Death Reported In UP: Concerns over swine flu have intensified in Uttar Pradesh. The first death due to swine flu has been reported in Lucknow this season. A 50-year-old woman from Indira Nagar died during treatment at Balrampur Hospital on Thursday.
According to information, the woman had been suffering from cold, fever and difficulties for several days. Her family initially sought treatment in a private hospital, where woman was diagnosed of Swine flu based on the symptoms. Swine flu was confirmed in the private pathology report on August 24. After this, the doctors recommended to shift the woman to a higher medical Centre for advanced treatment .
The family admitted the woman to Balrampur Hospital on August 25. During treatment the woman experienced breathing problem. She was put on oxygen support and life support equipment as her condition became critical. She died around 2.30 pm on Thursday. It is alleged that the family did not produce the positive swine flu report and also not informed the doctors about this.
As soon as the swine flu report of the woman surfaced, the health department team are trying to trace people who came in contact with the woman. Samples of some patients along with 17 doctors and staff involved in the woman’s treatment have been sent to KGMU for investigation. At the same time, the doctors and staff treating the woman have been advised to stay in isolation.
Other members of the family have been advised to stay in isolation for the time being. The health department has also provided essential medicines.
