Gurugram issues WFH advisory amid heavy rainfall: Gurugram District Administration has issued a Work From Home(WFH) advisory on Tuesday. The development comes amid heavy rainfall, the possibility of waterlogging and traffic jam across the city.
The advisory states that all private and government institutions have been asked to have been instructed to permit their staff to WFH on August 25(Tuesday). People have also been asked to plan their travel based on this.
Cars got stuck at Rajiv Chowk. The district administration said Gurugram experienced 70mm of rain till 1.30 pm on Monday. Major areas like Rajiv Chowk, IFFCO Chowk, Railway Road, Sector 5, Old Delhi Road, Mehrauli Road and Basai Road were badly affected due to heavy rain. Sadar Bazar, Gurdwara Road and Old Delhi Road saw traffic jams till the afternoon due to waterlogging. At the same time, school buses and ambulances were also stuck. Traffic police personnel were deployed to handle the situation. Sheetla Mata Road in Gurugram was the most affected area.
The advisory will help reduce traffic congestion and facilitate smooth repair and maintenance work on roads and drains by civic agencies, the notice added. On Monday, the Indian Meteorological Department issued an orange alert for Haryana’s Gurugram and Faridabad areas for heavy rain.
