Hearing In Supreme Court On SIR : The Supreme Court has heard a case challenging the revision of the voter list in West Bengal. Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee herself appeared in the court and opposed the ECI’s voter list revision process. Mamata herself was present during the hearing and presented her arguments. She directly targeted the Election Commission by calling it the WhatsApp Commission.
The names of lakhs of eligible voters are being deleted in the name of ‘Special Intensive Revision’. The Didi, who are mostly women and belong to minority communities, have raised objections to this. Questions have also been raised about the appointment of about 3,800 micro-observers.
Mamata said that instead of local officials, officials from other states are being used to manipulate the voter list. A bench headed by Chief Justice Surya Kant has issued a notice to the Election Commission in the case. The next hearing of the case will be on the 10th.
It is worth noting that Mamata met the Election Commission two days ago on the SIR issue. After that, she filed a complaint against the CEC. The Election Commission is lying. She said that she has never seen such an Election Commission.
