Karachi Faces Severe Weather, Buildings Collapse, Lives Lost
Heavy Storms Hit Karachi, 19 Dead in Rain-Related Incidents: Karachi, the largest city of Pakistan, is facing a severe natural disaster due to heavy rain and strong storms.Torrential rainfall and powerful winds that began on Wednesday night have caused widespread damage across the city. At least 19 people have died so far in different incidents. According to officials, strong winds led to the collapse of roofs and walls in several areas. Trees and signboards were also uprooted, disrupting normal life.
In the Korangi area, 12 people lost their lives when the roof and walls of a telephone exchange building collapsed while they were inside. Police official Sanghar Malik confirmed the incident. Another building collapsed in the Saeedabad area, and rescue teams are still working to clear the debris. Authorities fear that more people may be trapped.
Police officer Asad Raza reported additional casualties in different parts of the city. In Malir, two people died after being struck by lightning, while a couple died when their house roof collapsed in Korangi. Other incidents were reported from Landhi and Clifton, where a woman died after a tree fell on her.
Karachi Mayor Murtaza Wahab has advised residents to stay indoors and avoid unnecessary travel. Heavy rains have also caused power outages in many areas. The Pakistan Meteorological Department has warned that more rain and strong winds are expected in the coming days across Sindh province.
