Influencer found hanging in rented villa, father alleges cyber bullying: A social media influencer committed suicide after facing cyber bullying and abusive post online. Police have registered a case of unnatural death and further investigations are underway.
The shocking incident has come to light from Chennai. The victim has been identified as V. Harish aged 27 years. He was a financial consultant by profession. He was also a social media influencer with 3.1 million followers. He had been posting contents related to finance and investment for 5 years. He was found hanging in his rented villa in Chennai’s Mattukadu area on Tuesday.
In a complaint filed with the police, Harish’s father J. Vinayagam, accused another influencer named Jason Samuel of being responsible for his son’s death. Samuel repeatedly targeted Harish for cyber bullying and posted defamatory posts and issuing threats. The incidents caused Harish severe mental distress. Vinayagam also alleged that Samuel had published videos and posts on October 18 accusing Harish for fraud and misleading people.
On other hand Harish, before suicide, recorded a video blaming Samuel for his decision to commit suicide. He reportedly said that Samuel had threatened to block all his social media accounts and prevent him from creating new ones. Meanwhile, Samuel has denied these allegations in a social media post. Samuel stated that he did not expect Harish to take such a drastic step.

Harish’s father has demanded police examination of the video recording before his son’s death, preserve related digital evidence, and investigate the circumstances behind the blocking of his social media accounts.
However, the Kanathur police have registered a case of unnatural death. The police are investigating statements from both parties.
