‘Jana Nayakan’ Release Delayed Again; Unlikely to Hit Theatres Before April 30: The much-awaited final film of Vijay, Jana Nayakan, continues to face uncertainty over its theatrical release. Originally scheduled to hit cinemas on January 9, 2026, the film is now stuck due to a certification dispute, leaving fans disappointed once again.
According to the latest update, the chances of Jana Nayakan releasing before April 30 appear very slim. Canadian distributor York Cinemas recently shared an official statement on X (formerly Twitter) confirming that the film will not release before April 30.
In its post, York Cinemas requested audiences who had already booked tickets to seek refunds if they had not received one yet. The statement read:
“Dear audience, please note that the film ‘Jana Nayakan’ will not be released before April 30th. If you have any tickets booked and have not yet received a refund, please contact our cinemas to arrange a refund as soon as possible. All our loyal membership holders will receive priority booking once the new release date is confirmed. Thank you all for your patience, understanding, and continued support.”
The delay has further dampened the excitement among Vijay’s fans, who were hoping for clarity on the film’s release.
Refund Notice Issued for ‘Jana Nayakan’ Tickets
Adding to the uncertainty, the upcoming Tamil Nadu Assembly elections, expected to begin in late March or April, could also impact the release schedule.
Meanwhile, the Madras High Court on February 12 allowed the makers to withdraw their earlier petition regarding certification. During the hearing before Justice PT Asha, the filmmakers informed the court that they would now proceed through the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) Revision Committee for clearance.
With the court granting permission to withdraw the petition, the fate of Jana Nayakan now depends on the CBFC Revision Committee’s decision. Until then, the release date remains uncertain, prolonging the wait for Vijay’s fans.
