Janmashtami 2026: Offer these bhog items to please laddu gopal: The festival of Janmashtami is celebrated as the birth anniversary of Lord Krishna. The festival is celebrated on the Ashtami Tithi of Krishna Paksha of Bhadrapada month. This year the festival will be celebrated September 4.
Devotees observe fast on this day and offer worship to Bal Gopal with special offerings. It is believed that Mata Yashoda used to offer 56 bhogs to Lord Krishna. But in the busy schedule it is not possible on part of everyone to prepare 56 bhogs. So, to please Laddu Gopal we can offer Astabhoga on the auspicious day of Janmashtami. Let us know about lord’s favourite offerings:
1. Butter and Mishri: Lord Krishna is also known as ‘Makhan Chor’. Add a little mishri to fresh white butter and offer as bhog. It is believed that offering this bhog brings sweetness in relationship. Peace and prosperity of house is maintained.
2. Coriander Panjiri: Janmashtami puja is said to be incomplete without Coriander Panjiri. It holds special significance during the fast. Kanha’s favorite Prasad, Coriander Panjiri is made with pure desi ghee, roasted coriander, sugar and some dry fruits.
3. Panchamrit: It is a mixture of Milk, Curd, Ghee, Honey and Sugar in different proportions. It is also known as the heart of bhog or offerings. At night, Laddu Gopal is bathed with this panchamrit and then this is distributed as the main prasad.
4. Tulsi Leaves: Any offering of Lord Krishna is considered incomplete without a Tulsi leaf placed in it. Always add a basil leaf to the prasad plate.
5. Makhana Kheer: Offering makhana kheer is considered very auspicious and fruitful during midnight puja of laddu gopal. It is also dear to Chandra Dev. You can also offer simple rice kheer.
6. Mathura Peda: Peda, a type of sweet is made of mawa i.e. khoya. It is the speciality of Janmastami in Mathura.
7. Coconut Paag: Barfi made by grated coconut in sugar syrup by paag (cooking) is considered to be one of the special traditional offerings of Janmashtami.
8. Panchameva: Cashew, Almond, Raisin, Chuara and Makhana, mix these five dry fruits and offer them to God. It symbolizes purity as well as good health.
9. Fresh Seasonal Fruits: Bal Gopal loves fresh and juicy fruits. Be sure to include fruits like bananas, apples, grapes, guavas and berries as bhog.
10. Laddoos: Mother Yashoda used to feed laddoos to Krishna with her own hands. To express the same loving feelings you can also offer laddu to bal gopal. The laddoos are made from made from wheat flour or gond with desi ghee.
