Para powerlifter Jhandu Kumar clinched India’s first medal at the 2026 Commonwealth Games In Glasgow. He won bronze in the men’s heavyweight category on Friday. 28-year-old Jhandu Kumar weighed 181 kg. and 190 kg. 130.9 points and placed on the podium. He failed in his last attempt at 196kg. At the same time, another Indian Sudhir (114.1) was in sixth place. Nigeria’s Idris Riluwan won the gold medal with 132.8 points, while Matthew Harding (131) won the silver medal.
This medal of Jhandu Kumar is not just a victory in one game, but it is a victory of indomitable courage, countless nights of hard work, and a never-giving-up spirit.
