CM Satheesan said these are two of the five major promises made before the elections. The Congress had also promised other benefits, including a ₹1,000 monthly allowance for female college students, higher pension for the elderly, health insurance up to ₹25 lakh per family, and interest-free loans for small businesses.
The CM also said a special focus will be given to the welfare of senior citizens through a dedicated system in the new government.
