Significantly, the company has reduced its starting price by approximately ₹3 lakh (approximately ₹3 lakh), making the SUV more attractive than before. Meanwhile, the Toyota Fortuner’s starting price is ₹34.76 lakh (ex-showroom). While the two SUVs are relatively close in price, they differ significantly in features and technology.
Who is ahead in engine and performance?
The new Skoda Kodiaq is powered by a 2.0-liter TSI turbocharged petrol engine that produces 201 bhp and 320 Nm of torque. It’s paired with a 7-speed DSG automatic gearbox. The SUV also comes with an all-wheel drive system, making it feel more premium and smoother to drive.
The Toyota Fortuner, on the other hand, comes with two engine options: a 2.7-liter petrol engine and a 2.8-liter diesel engine. The diesel engine produces 201 bhp and up to 500 Nm of torque. The Fortuner is available with a choice of 6-speed manual and automatic gearboxes. When it comes to off-roading and a robust body, the Fortuner is considered more powerful. The Skoda Kodiaq, on the other hand, offers a premium driving experience in the city and on the highway.

In terms of features, the new Skoda Kodiaq appears quite advanced. It boasts features like ventilated and massage-function front seats, a large 12.9-inch touchscreen infotainment system, a 10.42-inch digital instrument cluster, 3-zone climate control, a panoramic sunroof, and a 13-speaker Canton sound system. The SUV also features dual wireless phone chargers and a premium interior. The Toyota Fortuner, on the other hand, lags behind in terms of features. It offers an 8-inch infotainment system, an analog instrument cluster, ventilated seats, and a JBL sound system. However, the Fortuner is known for its strong road presence and reliable performance.
Skoda wins in safety
The 2026 Skoda Kodiaq’s biggest highlight is its ADAS feature. The SUV features a 360-degree camera and advanced driver assistance system. It includes several advanced features like lane-keep assist, emergency braking, blind-spot monitoring, and adaptive cruise control. Furthermore, the Skoda Kodiaq features nine airbags, further enhancing passenger safety. The Toyota Fortuner, on the other hand, offers seven airbags and traction control, but it doesn’t yet feature ADAS technology.
