The Regional Meteorological Centre has issued an Orange Warning for seven districts. These districts are likely to witness thunderstorms accompanied by gusty winds reaching 50 to 60 kmph.
Low pressure likely next week, 7 districts under orange alert: Odisha is likely to witness the first low pressure of the current monsoon. According to the latest IMD forecast, the monsoon is expected to become more active around June 24 to 25 over the north Bay of Bengal and adjoining Odisha coast.
The IMD on Thursday also warns heavy rainfall, thunderstorms, lightning and strong winds in several districts over the next few days. People are also advised to remain cautious during thunderstorms and avoid venturing into open areas during lightning activity.

These districts are likely to witness thunderstorms accompanied by gusty winds reaching 50 to 60 kmph. The remaining districts have been placed under a Yellow warning for thunderstorms, lightning, and moderate rainfall.
Malkangiri, Koraput, Mayurbhanj, and Balasore are likely to receive heavy rainfall, while several other districts may witness thunderstorms, lightning, and strong surface winds in the next 48 hours. According to the forecast, all districts of Odisha will remain under weather alert on Friday. The Meteorological Centre said it is closely monitoring the situation and will issue further updates as the system evolves.
