Shubman became the seventh Indian captain in the history of ODI cricket to score 150 or more runs in an innings.
Shubman joins an elite club of 150-plus ODI scores: India defeated Afghanistan by 170 runs in the second ODI match. Shubman Gill was selected as the player of the match for his historic innings of 154 runs.
The second match between India and Afghanistan was played on June 17 in Lucknow in the Ekana International Cricket Stadium. Gill made the biggest contribution to the victory of Team India. He became the seventh Indian captain in the history of ODI cricket to score 150 or more runs in an innings. He has achieved this milestone since taking over the captaincy of the Indian ODI team in October 2025.
Sachin Tendulkar, Virender Sehwag, Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma, Kapil Dev and Mohammad Azharuddin have done this before him. Virat is the only Indian captain who has scored 150 or more runs twice in an innings in ODIs.
