IPL 2027 to start early: Devajit Saikia: BCCI has made a big announcement regarding IPL 2027. The board is considering starting the league from March 10 to May 15 next year.
Board Secretary Devajit Saikia said in an interview that we are considering starting the tournament two weeks earlier. The players and spectators will get relief from the scorching heat and pre- monsoon weather. He, however, clarified that the number of matches will remain 74 and will not be increased to 94 in view of the busy international schedule.
Normally, the IPL starts in the last week of March and runs until the end of May. Saikia said he has received complaints from players as well as fans about the heat in northern and western parts of India during IPL matches. ‘I am hearing a lot of complaints from fans as well as players, because not all players are used to playing in such hot conditions,’ he added. So, our main goal now is getting this done by May 15, 2027.
