President Presents Padma Awards to Mammootty, Alka Yagnik and R. Madhavan
Mammootty and Alka Yagnik Receive Padma Bhushan; Madhavan Gets Padma Shri: The second Padma Awards 2026 investiture ceremony was held at Rashtrapati Bhavan, where President Droupadi Murmu honoured several distinguished personalities.
Malayalam superstar Mammootty received the Padma Bhushan in the presence of his son, Dulquer Salmaan. With a career spanning over five decades and more than 400 films, Mammootty is also known for his social work.
Veteran singer Alka Yagnik was conferred the Padma Bhushan. Despite facing hearing issues, she attended the ceremony and received the honour. She has sung over 1,000 songs during her four-decade-long career.
Actor R. Madhavan received the Padma Shri for his contribution to cinema. He has worked in more than 70 films across several languages.
Telugu actors Maganti Murali Mohan and Rajendra Prasad were also honoured with the Padma Shri. Nagaland folk artist Guru Sangyusang Pongener received the Padma Shri as well.
Actor and scientist Anil Kumar Rastogi was awarded the Padma Shri for his contributions to art and public life. Veteran actor Satish Shah was honoured posthumously with the Padma Shri. His brother accepted the award on his behalf.
