Manish’s iconic look
Manish wore an Indian-style bandhgala, with a dramatic cap that won accolades. The cap was embroidered with the names and signatures of the artisans who made it. The cap represented the city of Mumbai, the city that catapulted Manish Malhotra from cinema to couture. His cap featured scenes such as the Taj Mahal Palace Hotel, the Gateway of India, and the Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminal, trains, taxis, and the daily routine of the city of dreams. Manish Malhotra paid tribute to Mumbai in a unique way.
Sharing the details on Instagram, she revealed that the garment took over 960 hours to create. It involved the labor of 50 artisans from Delhi and Mumbai. The white and ivory architectural cap features dori work, zardosi, and chikankari work throughout. The names and signatures of each artisan are embroidered on the lining and cape. Most notably, the cap’s embroidery is handcrafted by artisans.
