Chaos erupted in the Hauz Rani area of Malviya Nagar, Delhi, following a massive fire at a restaurant on Wednesday morning. During the incident, several people became trapped inside the building and jumped from windows in a desperate bid to save their lives. Fire department personnel arrived at the scene and safely rescued many individuals. However, 20 people lost their lives in the tragedy. Several injured were immediately transported to the hospital via CATS ambulances. While the exact cause of the fire is currently under investigation, a short circuit is suspected. The police and the fire department are currently engaged in a comprehensive investigation of the entire matter.
Jitendra Kumar, the Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM) of Malviya Nagar, stated, ‘As soon as I received the information this morning, we activated our response cell and alerted all relevant forces, dispatching them to the site. A hotel was being operated on the lower floors of this building. While the exact cause has not yet been ascertained, it appears that the fire originated within that restaurant.’
